The evening begins with a panel discussion on equality and the position of women as musicians in 2024. Hosted by reporter/presenter Salla Paajanen, the panel consists of Tiina Käpylä and Anna-Elena Pääkkölä, authors of the book From Laila to Alma: History of Women in Finnish Popular MusicTiina “Toni” Lähteenmäki, groundbreaking musician and renaissance woman, Maria Mattila aka Mara Balls, musician, artist and a pioneer of Finnish UG culture, and Satumaa Veikkola, director of Seinäjoen Rytmi-instituutti, Bachelor of Music, pedagogue and authorised CVT singing teacher.

Following the panel, we’ll hear from stand up comedian Viivi Kuusela. During the event, media artist Leena Lehti‘s beautiful works are projected onto the walls of Yo-talo.

Additional music during the event is by DJ Sara-Maaria, spinning the best records by female artists from any genre. Salla Paajanen tells us about the civil petition she started, aimed at creating menopause clinics and bettering the services provided in the public sector to those going through menopause.
