It’s time to celebrate Finnish screenwriting! In a special screening of Sylvi Prize for screenwriting, right after the award ceremony, both the winning film and the pilot episode for the winning TV series will be screened.
The Writers Guild of Finland has awarded the Sylvi prize for best screenplay since 1985. It has been awarded for many of the leading screenwriters in Finland. The prize is awarded solely on the basis of screenplay, not taking into account the film or series itself. Since 2021, the Sylvi prize has been awarded for both film and tv series screenplays.
The Writers Guild of Finland is a professional trade union founded in 1921 by the authors themselves. The union has some 650 members, who work on plays, as well as films, television, radio dramas and multimedia screenplays.
