A total of 7125 films were submitted for the International Competition, of which 60 films from 44 countries were selected for screening.
According to the jury, with more films submitted than ever before, it became even more important for to seek out stories that stand out and stay with the viewer. Among the Finnish films, The Beauty of Automobiles (Finland, 2026) by Jukka Kärkkäinen and In My Hand (Norway, Sweden, Finland, 2025) by Marja Helander and Liselotte Wajstedt were also selected in the International Competition.

The winners of the 2026 competitions will be announced at the Awards on Saturday 7 March at the Comedy Theatre Palace.
