Tampere Film Festival opens the submissions for the national and international competitions on May 5th. Last year the festival competitions had over 6 000 submissions and 92 films were selected in the international and national competitions. This year filmmakers can again select from two submission platforms: Short Film Depot and FilmFreeway. Competitions are open until December 1st 2021.

The competition for short genre films, Generation XYZ, opens on October 4th. The submission is open on FilmFreeway until December 15th 2021.

Selected films will be announced in February 2022 (week 6).

The winners will be selected by the juries of Tampere Film Festival and announced on Saturday March 12th 2022. The festival takes place in Tampere, Finland 9–13 March 2022.


Awarded Films 2021

Tampere Film Festival’s International Competition Grand Prix goes to Suzannah Mirghani’s fiction film, Al-Sit (Sudan, Qatar 2020).

In the under 30 minutes category of the National Competition of the Festival, the main Prize was awarded to Sawandi Groskind’s Where to Land (Finland 2020). The Main Prize in the Over 30 Minutes category was awarded to Joonas Neuvonen and Sadri Cetinkaya’s documentary Lost Boys (Finland 2020).
