Tampere Film Festival Legend Raimo “Rake” Silius has passed away

Raimo “Rake” Silius, a founding member of Tampere Film Festival, died on 12.11.2024 in Tampere at the age of 81.
Silius was the driving force behind Tampere Film Festival for the first 20 years and had a major influence on the kind of event the festival became over time. His knowledge of the film industry, his persistent work and his dedication to film are an irreplaceable part of the festival’s history.
Rake has been involved with the festival in one way or another throughout the decades. In recent years, he was on the festival’s board of directors, and has also been an important source of information for younger generations.
We thank Rake for his great life’s work and dedication to Tampere Film Festival. We will miss his sharp humour and humane attitude towards life.
The last Rake Special screening, curated by Rake, will be presented at the upcoming festival in spring 2025.
An obituary will be published on our website at a later date.
