Short Film Day is Coming Again – Open Screen Submission Open Until 31 October

Finnish Short Film Day will be celebrated for the twelfth time on 21 December 2024, with festivities taking place from 13 to 21 December 2024.

This year, Short Film Day offers a way to participate in the event’s content through the Open Screen category for the second time, where the best films selected from participants will be included in the official film programme of Short Film Day. Open Screen is open to everyone, from amateurs and emerging filmmakers to seasoned professionals!

The selected films will be compiled into a film package, which can be ordered for viewing across Finland in both private and public events.

Submission for Open Screen is open 2–31 October 2024. Submit by using the Google Forms submission form!

Details for submissions: 

  • Max runtime: 15 minutes
  • Subtitles: Required, if the language is other than Finnish or English
  • Age limit: At maximum rated 16 (If the film lacks an official rating, the rating will be done on the behalf of the Finnish Short Film Day.)
  • Production year: Open
  • Country of origin: Open
  • Rights: Submitter is responsible for all  copyrights. By submitting the film, you commit to the film being screened if it is selected and the selection has been accepted by the filmmaker.
  • Form: Film must be submitted via Vimeo or Youtube link
  • Submissions open: 2–31 October 2024

The Finnish Short Film Day is organised by Tampere Film Festival, Yle (Finnish Broadcasting Company), The Centre for Finnish Media Art, The Finnish Film Foundation, Helsinki International Film Festival Love & Anarchy, Turku Animated Film Festival, IhmeFilmi, Oulu International Children’s and Youth Film Festival and Azh Boyzz. It is funded by The Finnish Film Foundation.
