Red or Black by Heta Okkonen is Finland’s Finalist Project for Euro Connection 2025
Heta Okkonen’s Red or Black has been selected as Finland’s nominee for the Euro Connection co-production platform for 2025. The film is produced by Mika Koskinen and the production company Indie Films.
Red or Black is a story of a young girl’s growth into a woman and her search for her own identity amidst society’s often rigid norms.
Okkonen’s debut film, the short animation Gravitating (2023), was nominated in Tampere Film Festival’s national competition in 2023.
The 17th edition of Euro Connection will take place on 4–5 February 2025 during the Short Film Market in Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival with support from Creative Europe MEDIA and PROCIREP.
The event is aimed at European producers, distributors and financiers and aims to promote partnerships between production companies around quality short film projects.
The Finnish nomination was decided by experts from Yle, AVEK, Finnish Film Foundation and Tampere Film Festival. The call for Finnish productions for the Euro Connection Forum was made through Tampere Film Festival in autumn 2024. An European professional jury will select 12 short film projects from the submissions and will announce its decision at the beginning of December.
