Based on Selma Anttila's play by the same name. The factory's general manager Lumiala (Sven Relander) returns from his travels to learn that his wife Anna (Helmi Lindelöf) has hired a hot-tempered young man named Oras (Ilmari Unho) as an office assistant. Anna, who has a hunch that Oras is the fruit of her youthful sin, is ready to defend the boy despite her family's pleas and Oras' crimes. Oras' girlfriend Orvokki (Birgit Hästesko) also tries to keep him on the right path.
