Register for Script Tampere 2025 HERE!

The traditional scriptwriting event Script Tampere is organized for the twelfth time at the Tampere Film Festival. The event is aimed at scriptwriters, both professionals and students of the field. The panel discussions and interviews focus on the profession of a scriptwriter and its current topics. The Script Tampere is organised by the Tampere Film Festival and the Writers Guild of Finland.
Doors open at 10:00 on both days and morning coffee is served.
The event requires registration and has an entry fee. You can register here.
Tickets: on-site 2 days 59 €, on-site 1 day 30 €, recording of both days 25 €.
Recordings are available to watch between 12.–25.3.
ATTENTION! Advance registration ends on Wed 5.3. at 22:00. Afterwards you can register at the venue if there is still room.

SCRIPTWRITER INTERVIEW: TIINA LYMI

The TV series Queen of Fucking Everything (2025, Rabbit Films), directed and written by Tiina Lymi, has become hugely popular since its release. Myrskyluodon Maija (2024, Solar Films), also written and directed by Lymi, has garnered Jussi nominations and has made Lymi one of the most watched Finnish directors. Are Nikkinen from YLE Svenska Drama and a co-author of the popular screenwriting guides Elokuvan runousoppi and Television runousoppi interviews Tiina Lymi from the perspective of scriptwriter.

SCRIPTWRITER INTERVIEW: PIRKKO SAISIO

The legendary and award-winning Pirkko Saisio is known as a writer, actress, director, and also as a scriptwriter. Saisio's latest screenplay Orenda (2025, Bufo, directed by Pirjo Honkasalo) will have its Finnish premiere at the opening screening of the Tampere Film Festival. The film festival will also feature Saisio's previous screenwriting Betoniyö (2013, Bufo). Saisio will be interviewed about scriptwriting by Reetta Aalto, director and scriptwriter who has also published two novels.

In spring 2025, Audiovisual Producers Finland will publish its Avaus sustainability toolkit, and in the future, the Finnish Film Foundation will require companies and communities applying for grants to submit environmental, equality and non-discrimination plans. How will these affect the work of scriptwriters, or will they affect them at all? Can characters fly around the world and eat meat anymore? Oskari Sipola and Tua Harno, familiar from Käsispodi, will lead a discussion on the topic. This discussion will also be recorded as an episode of the podcast.

FRIDAY 7.3.2025
Friday's panels will feature, along with other experts in the audiovisual industry, scriptwriters who are also nominated for the Sylvi Prize in TV or film categories. Sylvi Prizes will be presented on Saturday at the Tampere Film Festival’s Award Ceremony.
Both of today's panels will have a short break in between.
WHAT CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE WANT TO WATCH

Is the scriptwriter responsible for content differently when writing for children or adolescents than for adults? Is the experience of watching a film or TV show age-related? Or is writing for children and or adolescents a special calling? The panel will focus on what needs to be considered and what should be taken into account when writing for children and young people.

SCRIPTWRITING SEX SCENES

Depictions of sex in audiovisual works have always been a hot topic. The final panel of Script Tampere discusses the treatment of sexuality and intimate topics on TV and screen. Guest scriptwriters talk about their processes and, on the other hand, hear how the actor experiences the text while executing it.
