IDFA is the world’s pre-eminent documentary film festival, combining a relaxed atmosphere with excellent business opportunities. The festival draws a large audience with its diverse film program, including many premieres, and showcases the latest digital developments in IDFA DocLab. The festival’s industry components (co-financing market IDFA Forum, documentary market Docs for Sale, training program IDFAcademy and the IDFA Bertha Fund) draw over 3,000 professional guests each year.

Jasper Hokken (1989) is a programmer at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), responsible for curating IDFA’s Short Documentary Competition. He is also a curator for the IDFA on Stage program in which unique live events are presented that explore the space between documentary cinema and performing arts. Additionally, he runs the festival’s online video-on-demand collection, which currently offers a curated online catalogue of around 700 documentaries that previously screened at the festival. Before Hokken started working at IDFA in 2011 he studied Media & Culture Studies at University of Amsterdam. In 2012 he got his Master’s degree in Preservation and Presentation of the Moving Image, specialising in online film distribution.

Show Me Shorts

Show Me Shorts is Aotearoa New Zealand’s leading international short film festival. Their mission is to connect audiences with the best short films from around the world; celebrate excellence in short film making; and foster the short film community. This is a competitive Oscar-qualifying film festival screening short films that are 2-20 minutes long (any genre except experimental). The festival takes place at 28 venues nationwide each October. In addition Show Me Shorts provides a number of prestigious workshops and development opportunities such as the Short Film Talks, Aotearoa Short Film Lab for screenwriters, and their Filmmaker Resources for aspiring filmmakers.

OFF – Odense International Film Festival is Denmark’s International, Oscar-qualifying short film festival.  OFF was born in 1975 with passion and creativity; a spirit that the festival has maintained and nurtured ever since.

Birgitte Weinberger is festival director and head of programme at OFF. For the past 11 years she has refined and developed the festival and turned it into one of Europe’s most prominent short film festivals.

YLE is a public service broadcasting company and the most diverse community of creative work in Finland.

Sari Volanen is producer whose main areas of responsibility are short films and producing Uusi Kino programme for Yle Teema.
