The past week has been a celebration of short films, and Short Film Day will culminate on Saturday 21 December. The idea of Short Film Day is to boost the visibility of short films and make short films more widely known as an art form. On Saturday, you can enjoy short films in cinemas, on Yle and at various pop-up events.<\/span><\/p>\n

For cinemas the Finnish Short Film Day team has curated a special package of films called <\/span>Bumps on the Highway of Life<\/span><\/a>. The package contains five short films that depict the challenges we face in life with a humorous touch.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yle celebrates the 30th anniversary of Yle Teema’s Uusi Kino programme slot. To mark the occasion, short films that have been significant in the history of programme will be screened. The films include <\/span>Sin<\/span><\/i> (1996) by<\/span> Virpi Suutari <\/b>and <\/span>Susanna Helke<\/b>, <\/span>City Dwellers<\/span><\/i> (2008) by <\/span>Juho Kuosmanen<\/b> and<\/span> Nun or Never!<\/span><\/i> (2013) by<\/span> Heta J\u00e4\u00e4linoja<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The screenings of the Short Film Day will start at 20:45 on Saturday 21 December, and the films will be available on Yle Arena from 21 December onwards.<\/span><\/p>\n

Please note that Yle Areena’s Uusi Kino 30 Years is only available to watch in Finland.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Finnish Short Film Day is organised by Tampere Film Festival, Yle (Finnish Broadcasting Company), The Centre for Finnish Media Art, The Finnish Film Foundation, Helsinki International Film Festival Love & Anarchy, Turku Animated Film Festival, IhmeFilmi, Oulu International Children\u2019s and Youth Film Festival and Azh Boyzz. It is funded by The Finnish Film Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n
