{"id":36897,"date":"2022-03-08T13:00:55","date_gmt":"2022-03-08T11:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tamperefilmfestival.fi\/ohjelmistosta-vedetaan-pois-venalaisia-elokuvia\/"},"modified":"2025-07-28T14:34:31","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T11:34:31","slug":"the-festival-withdraws-russian-short-films","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tamperefilmfestival.fi\/en\/the-festival-withdraws-russian-short-films\/","title":{"rendered":"The Festival Withdraws Russian Short Films"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Tampere Film Festival has made the decision to withdraw three short films financed by the Russian government from the festival programme.<\/p>\n<p>Four independent Russian films remain in the festival programme: <b>Danila Kulin<\/b>\u2019s <i>Cosmonauts <\/i>(Russia 2020) and <b>Mikhail Zheleznikov<\/b>\u2019s <i>Reviziya<\/i> (Russia 2020) in the International Competition and <b>Ksenia Bashmakova<\/b>\u2019s <i>Nobody\u2019s Fly <\/i>(Russia 2018) and <b>Iona Roisin<\/b>\u2019s<i> Muistatko (A Method)<\/i> (Finland, Russia 2019) in the <i>What the VAFT? <\/i>screening.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 We think it is imperative that the voice of the Russian opposition is also heard at our festival. The situation is difficult for everyone and it is not the filmmakers\u2019 fault, say Festival Director <b>Jukka-Pekka Laakso <\/b>and Executive Director <b>Riina Mikkonen<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Tampere Film Festival will donate the proceeds of the<a href=\"https:\/\/tamperefilmfestival.fi\/en\/programme\/awarded-films-5\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em> Awarded Films 5<\/em><\/a> screening on Sunday 12 March to the Finnish Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
