Tampere Film Festival is the largest short film festival in the Nordic countries. The internationally renowned event is one of the three largest short film festivals in Europe, alongside Clermont-Ferrand (France) and Oberhausen (Germany).
The five day festival takes place every year in Tampere, Finland, in early March, with it’s screenings and events attracting approx. 30,000 visitors. More than 800 accredited film industry professionals attend the festival, it has around 40 staff and over a hundred volunteers. The festival screens roughly 400 films in more than a hundred screenings.
Every year, in addition to the film screenings, the first-rate, internationally acclaimed film competitions take place, the International Competition for short films, the National Competition for short films and feature-length documentaries, as well as the latest addition, the Generation XYZ Competition for genre films. The festival also features numerous events for both film industry professionals and the public, such as seminars, workshops, panel discussions and parties.
The festival’s main sponsors are the City of Tampere, the Finnish Film Foundation (SES) and AVEK, and the festival collaborates with several other partners as well. Find out more about these on the Partners website.
