AVEK 30-years special screenings shows finnish short-, animated and documentary films which are supported by AVEK (The Promotion Centre for Audiovisual Culture).

During the past three decades, The Promotion Centre for Audiovisual Culture AVEK has funded hundreds of films and works of media art. Through its broad-minded support policy, AVEK has enabled an operating culture both in the field of audio-visual arts as well as in creation of digital content where people dare to take risks and seek to break into new territories. AVEK’s funding program has been marked by promoting diversity as well as openness to cultural change, new ideas and approaches.

AVEK has contributed significantly to Finnish documentary filmmakers’, animation artists’ and media artists’ rise to international acclaim that began in the early 1980s.

This year there are two special screenings showcasing the best of Finnish short films, animations and documentary films that have received support from AVEK. In addition, the screenings feature several masterpieces that are rarely seen on the silver screen, as well as treasures of media art and experimental film.
